DHI installing solar systems across its communities
Through the Solar on Multifamily Affordable Housing program (SOMAH), DHI is installing propertywide solar systems across our California portfolio that generate clean, renewable energy while delivering direct financial benefits to residents.
DHI is installing rooftop and carport solar systems, totaling nearly 2,000 kW (2MW) of solar capacity across nine properties. These systems generate approximately 3 million kWh of clean electricity each year. With 98% of the solar credits allocated directly to residents, these installations could deliver over $1M in annual electricity savings to residents while preventing 1,200 metric tons of carbon emissions each year – equivalent to removing close to 260 cars form the road.
By delivering solar power directly to residents, the solar credits can offset a significant portion of residents’ utility bills while reducing overall greenhouse gas emissions. These installations not only provide cleaner, sustainable energy but also strengthen the long-term efficiency and resilience of our properties.
